Flowers That Tell Your Story

There is a moment, usually around ten minutes into a first wedding consultation, when a couple stops describing what they think they should have, and starts describing what they actually love. A colour their grandmother wore. A flower that grew in the back garden of a childhood home. The way meadow grasses look in August light. That is the moment Bloom & Petal Florists truly begins its work.

That is the moment Bloom & Petal truly begins, when you stop describing what you think you should have, and start describing what you love.

Based in the heart of Winchester, we have been helping Hampshire couples translate those quiet, personal details into flowers for years. Every arrangement we create for a wedding starts not with a catalogue, but with a conversation. We ask questions, we listen carefully, and we sketch ideas together until the vision feels genuinely, unmistakably yours.

Hampshire is extraordinarily generous when it comes to flowers. The chalk downlands around Winchester and Alresford produce conditions that suit sweet peas, cornflowers, and foxgloves in abundance during the summer months. Closer to Romsey, the hedgerows offer seasonal foliage that no wholesaler can quite replicate. We draw on this landscape constantly, it shapes our palette, our textures, and the wild, alive quality you will notice in every bouquet we build.

Choosing a florist for your wedding is one of the most personal decisions in all the planning. Flowers set the emotional tone of the day more than almost anything else, they are in every photograph, on every table, in the hands of the people you love most. We take that responsibility seriously, and we also take great joy in it. Getting a wedding right is, honestly, one of the best parts of what we do.

We work with a limited number of weddings each year, deliberately so. That means when you book with us, you are not one of forty couples in a spreadsheet. You are the couple we are thinking about on the Tuesday before your Saturday, conditioning your flowers in the cool room and checking each stem by hand. We would love that couple to be you.

What We Create for Your Wedding Day

Bridal Bouquets

Your bouquet is the one floral detail that stays with you all day, in your hands at the altar, in every photograph, in your memory forever. We design each bridal bouquet from scratch, choosing stems that complement your dress silhouette, your colour palette, and the season you are marrying in. Whether you are drawn to a lush, unstructured garden-gathered look or a more refined, structured arrangement, we will build something that feels completely right for you.

  • Bespoke design consultation
  • Seasonal and garden-sourced stems
  • Complementary bridesmaids' posies available

Buttonholes & Corsages

The finest buttonholes are small enough to wear comfortably but considered enough to photograph beautifully. We create each one by hand, a single stem or a tiny posy of complementary flowers, tied with ribbon or wrapped with natural twine to match your overall look. Corsages for mothers and grandmothers are crafted with the same care, ensuring every important guest feels part of the floral story.

  • Hand-tied and wired options
  • Ribbon and twine finishes
  • Matched to bridal palette

Ceremony Florals

From a simple flower-decked pew end at St Cross in Winchester to a full floral arch framing the altar of a Hampshire barn, we design ceremony flowers that draw the eye and create the atmosphere you have imagined. We are familiar with venues across the county, from ancient cathedral interiors to open-air settings in the Itchen Valley, and we work with each space's natural character rather than against it.

  • Pew ends and aisle décor
  • Floral arches and altar arrangements
  • Ceremony-to-reception repurposing available

Reception Table Arrangements

Long after the ceremony, your guests will spend hours at their tables, and the flowers they sit beside shape the warmth of the room. We create centrepieces in every style, from low, generous garden-style clusters of mixed blooms to tall, dramatic arrangements in glass vessels. We also design coordinating bud vases, floral candle rings, and scattered petal details to pull the whole reception together.

How It Works

From First Enquiry to Your Wedding Day

We have designed our process to feel unhurried and personal, because planning wedding flowers should be a pleasure, not a pressure.

Get in Touch

Drop us a message or call us on 01962 555200 with your wedding date and a few first thoughts. We will check our availability and, if we are free, invite you in for a no-obligation consultation at our Winchester shop, usually within two weeks of your enquiry.

Your Consultation

We sit down together for around an hour. Bring inspiration images, fabric swatches, venue photographs, anything that speaks to the feeling you want. We will talk through each element of your day, suggest flowers in season for your date, and begin sketching the shape of your arrangements together.

Mood Board & Flower Selection

Within a week of your consultation, we send you a bespoke mood board, real flower samples photographed alongside your colour palette, so you can see and feel the direction before committing. We refine it together until it is exactly right, then finalise your flower list.

Your Quote & Confirmation

We provide a clear, itemised quote with no hidden costs. Once you are happy, a deposit of 25% secures your date in our calendar. We are a small team and limit the number of weddings we take on per weekend, so we recommend booking at least six to nine months ahead for summer dates.

Creation Week

In the days before your wedding, we source the freshest stems available, conditioning them carefully in our Winchester workroom so they open at exactly the right moment. We build every arrangement by hand, checking proportions, colours, and textures against your mood board as we go.

On-the-Day Delivery & Setup

On your wedding morning, we deliver and set up all ceremony and reception flowers at your venue. We are experienced with venues across Winchester, Alresford, Romsey, and the wider Hampshire countryside, and we do not leave until every stem is exactly where it should be.

What Our Wedding Couples Say

★★★★★

When I walked into the bridal suite and saw my bouquet for the first time, I actually cried. It was exactly what I had described, wild and romantic and full of the pale pink sweet peas I had grown up with. The team at Bloom & Petal had listened to absolutely every word. Our guests spent the whole evening complimenting the table flowers too.

Rosie H.
★★★★★

We wanted something unconventional, deep plum dahlias, lots of dark foliage, nothing too traditional, and Bloom & Petal delivered beyond anything we had imagined. The floral arch at our venue near Alresford was genuinely breathtaking. Every single photo has these incredible flowers in it. Worth every penny and then some.

James & Tom K.
★★★★★

From the very first consultation at the shop in Winchester, we felt in completely safe hands. The mood board they put together captured our vision better than we had managed to ourselves. On the day, everything arrived perfectly on time and looked stunning, the buttonholes especially got so many compliments. We could not recommend them more highly.

Wedding Flower FAQs

Still wondering? Ask us directly

We recommend booking at least six to nine months before your wedding date, particularly for popular summer Saturdays between May and September. We take on a limited number of weddings per weekend to ensure each couple receives our full attention, so popular dates fill quickly. That said, if your wedding is sooner, it is always worth calling us on 01962 555200, we will always try to help if we can.

Yes, we regularly deliver and set up wedding flowers at venues across Hampshire, including Alresford, Romsey, Stockbridge, the Itchen Valley, and beyond. Delivery charges apply for venues outside Winchester, and we will include these transparently in your quote. For venues further afield across Hampshire, please get in touch to discuss, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Seasonal availability genuinely improves the quality and freshness of your arrangements, a peony bought in May will always outshine one forced in November. During your consultation we will share exactly what is at its best for your wedding month and suggest alternatives for any specific stems that may not be available. Some flowers, like roses and lisianthus, are available year-round from quality growers and work in almost every palette.

Your consultation takes place at our Winchester shop and typically lasts around an hour. We talk through every floral element of your day, bouquets, buttonholes, ceremony flowers, and table arrangements, and encourage you to bring along any inspiration: photographs, swatches, even screenshots from your phone. It is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation, and there is absolutely no obligation to book on the day.

Every wedding is unique, so we provide itemised bespoke quotes rather than fixed packages. Pricing depends on the flowers chosen, the number of arrangements, and the complexity of any installation work such as arches or hanging features. As a guide, most of our wedding couples spend between £600 and £2,500 on florals in total, though we are happy to discuss any budget during your consultation and find the best approach for you.

Absolutely, this is a brilliant way to get more from your floral investment. We can design arrangements that work beautifully in both settings; for example, pew end posies can move to the bar area, and altar arrangements can anchor the head table. We will plan this with you during the consultation and factor the logistics into our on-the-day schedule.

We do offer Flower Subscriptions through Bloom & Petal, and some of our wedding couples choose to receive a monthly bouquet in the months leading up to their wedding, partly as a treat and partly as a lovely way to see our work up close before the big day. Just mention it during your consultation and we can talk through the options.
